Cajun Spiced Shrimp Tacos with Mango Avocado Salsa
These Cajun Spiced Shrimp Tacos blend perfectly with the sweet and tangy Mango Avocado Salsa. The mango salsa’s lovely acidity adds a nice touch of sweet, spicy, and savory-ness to the perfectly seasoned shrimp tacos.
WHAT IS CAJUN SEASONING?
Cajun Spice originated in the South, in the state of Louisiana, USA. In the region of Louisiana, Cajun Cuisine can often connect with “rustic cuisine.” This means that Cajun spice is usually cooked in recipes based on locally available ingredients. The preparation of these recipes is conducted in a relatively straightforward manner but packed with tons of flavor. Shrimp, alongside other freshwater seafood, are the common meats prepared with Cajun seasoning.
CAJUN SHRIMP MARINADE:
- 1 Tablespoon Cajun Seasoning
- 1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
- Cracked Black Pepper
- 1 Tablespoon Paprika Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
- 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 Small Lemon
CAJUN SHRIMP TACOS DIRECTIONS:
1.) Peel and De-shell Shrimp until cleaned.
2.) Add All Seasoning Ingredients into the bowl with Shrimp and Toss until well incorporated. Adjust seasoning as desired. Tip: Be sure to toss the Shrimp carefully, so it does not break apart and become rubbery.
3.) Refrigerate Shrimp Marinade for at least half an hour.
4.) When ready, pull out the desired grill pan and set the flame on medium-high.
5.) Add Shrimp and grill for about 2-3 minutes on both sides or until both sides become pink, indicating they are cooked.
6.) Once ready, set aside.
MANGO AVOCADO SALSA INGREDIENTS:
- 1 Small Avocado
- 1 Small Mango
- 1 Roma Tomato, Or 4-5 Cherry Tomatoes
- 1 Small Red Onion
- 1 Clove Garlic
- 1 Lime
- 1 Cilantro Bunch
- Sea Salt, “opt for table salt if not available.”
- Black Pepper
- Olive Oil
MANGO AVOCADO SALSA DIRECTIONS:
1.) Chop all vegetables into bite-sized pieces. Toss into the desired bowl.
2.) Add the juice of one lime. Adjust and taste as you go.
3.) Drizzle bowl with one tablespoon olive oil. Adjust as desired.
4.) Season salsa with sea salt and black pepper. Sea salt brings out the flavor of the Mango Avocado salsa. It’s totally optional, but if it’s not available, table salt will do just fine! Black Pepper adds a level of spice that brings depth towards the sweet fruits.
TACO ASSEMBLE:
1.) Warm-up Flour Tortillas until softened. I prefer flour tortillas over corn tortillas for these tacos because it provides a nice fluffy pillow for some of our more decadent ingredients.
2.) Add Shrimps on to the tacos.
3.) Add Mango Avocado Salsa on top of the Cajun Shrimp.
4.) Optional: Add sour cream for some added creaminess. Add hot sauce to spice up the tacos to your liking. Squeeze some lime juice and you got some all-star tacos on your plate.
5.) Serve and Enjoy!
