KEEMA (PAKISTANI BEEF MINCE AND POTATOES)
Keema is the perfect comfort food that you can slow-cook on your busy weekday night for your family. This beef mince and potatoes is so simple, hearty, and full of flavors. Serve the keema up with fresh naan, pita bread, or rice and you have the perfect comfort meal.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 Pound of Ground Beef
- 1 Large Yellow Onion
- 3 Potatoes
- 6 Tomatoes or Crushed Canned Tomatoes
- 1 Tablespoon of Red Chili Powder
- 2 Tablespoons Ground Paprika
- 1 Tablespoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Cumin Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Garam Masala
- 2 Dried Bay Leaves
- Cilantro For Garnish
- Chilis For Garnish
- Grated Ginger For Garnish
DIRECTIONS:
1.) Heat about a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan. Add the diced yellow onion and sauté until softened.
2.) Then, add the spices and ground beef and mix until combined.
3.) Stir the ground beef until the meat is browned. Add 1/2 cup of water and the diced tomatoes and stir until the tomatoes soften. Add the ginger, garlic and green chillis and cover the pot to simmer until softened.
4.) Stir the mixture well. Then, add the cubed potatoes to the mince right away and cook until softened. Add more water, if you need to and allow the curry to cook for 30 minutes.
5.) Taste and adjust for seasoning and spices. Garnish with fresh cilantro, chilis, and grated ginger. Serve hot with pita bread, naan, or rice! Enjoy.
