The famous ice cream shop that went viral from Portland, Oregon has now opened a new location in Gilbert, Arizona. The ice cream is sourced from local ingredients with creative, fun flavors with no hormones or antibiotics. The ice cream flavors change constantly incorporating unique flavors like goat cheese or almond butter so you can keep coming back to try a new flavor each time. Check out what flavors we tried below!

Wild-Foraged Berry Pie:

5/5

The Wild-Foraged Berry Pie was definitely my favorite ice cream flavor for the summer month! The texture was amazing with the smooth creamy salted vanilla ice cream, paired with the fruity acidity from the wild berries and the crumbly texture of the pie crust. If you are someone who loves a burst of flavor and texture, this ice cream flavor is for you.

Chocolate Gooey Brownie:

3/5

The Brownie Batter flavor is for the chocolate lovers out there. This flavor is made with fudge chocolatey-brownie batter and paired with rich chocolate ice cream. For me, this flavor was a bit one-note and didn’t stand out as anything special, but its a great safe option if you enjoy the classics.

Freckled Mint Chip:

5/5

This flavor caught me by surprise! This ice cream is made with Coconut and pure Oregon mint oil and paired with dark mint chocolate. The staff mentioned it would have a floral taste and it surprisingly did. I didn’t expect to enjoy this flavor as much as I did, but it was very unique and I loved the mint and dark chocolate pairing together.

Honey Lavender:

4/5

The Honey Lavender ice cream was made from lavender petals with local honey, bringing a sweet floral delicate flavor. This flavor wasn’t as punchy as the other flavors, but it was still delicious. If you want to venture out away from classic flavors like vanilla, this might be a good place to start.

The Ambiance was beautiful, with plenty of seating and warm lights around the space. There was a full staff who accommodated towards the long line quickly and effectively. They provide metal spoons instead of plastic with a designated station underneath to dispose too! For Arizonians, ice cream is most-wanted during the hot summer days and there were plenty of coolers outside to keep you from overheating in the long lines.

I thoroughly enjoyed all the unique flavors Salt & Straw had to offer and will definitely want to come back to try what creative new combinations they come up with next. Have you visited Salt & Straw? Let me know which flavors you liked in the comments below!
