SWEETENED GUAVA JAM
Prep Time: 10 Minutes | Cook Time: 2 Hours |
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 Pounds of Guava, Fully Ripened
- 2 Cups Sugar
- 1 Lemon
- 3 Cups Water
DIRECTIONS:
1.) Wash two pounds of Guava until cleaned. Divide each Guava into 6 slices. Place guavas into a pot and fill with 3 cups of water until fully submerged.
2.) Boil the Guavas on low flame and cook until fully softened. Strain the guava extract into a separate pot. Set guavas aside.
3.) Add 2 cups of sugar in the pot of guava extract. Cook on low flame and occasionally stir for 2 hours, so it does not stick to the bottom of the pot. Add the juice of one lemon to the mixture.
4.) Once the guava jam becomes bubbly. Close the flame and allow the jam to cool for ten minutes. Remove all air bubbles with a spoon for a cleaner jam.
6.) Then, strain the jam into a glass jar and allow to cool until it reaches room temperature. Do not close the lid in the jar until completely cooled.
7.) Once ready, close the lid of the jar and/or serve. The Sweetened Guava Jam can be used for up to two months.
I actually really want to try this since guava are one of my favorite fruits. Can you tell me where you buy your guava from?
Hi Deena!
These fruits were actually gifted to me from a local farmer during the fall season! I would recommend checking a local farmers market for some fresh guavas. Hope that helps!
